Sibéal wants you!

Sibéal Feminist and Gender Studies Network are recruiting three Board members. We are a voluntary all island of Ireland research network. We organise conferences and networking events for researchers to promote feminist and gender perspectives in all disciplines.

We welcome applications from students, researchers and staff at any level of third level institutions and from any discipline with an interest in feminist and gender studies.  The positions to be filled are Treasurer, Secretary and Social Media Officer. We ask that applicants be available for a minimum of two years for continuity with the Board. Membership of the Board is voluntary with expenses connected to fulfilment of your duties covered. Monthly meetings will be held virtually, or as needed in the run up to events. Typically 2 hours per week are involved for Board activities, although this might change based on the activities at a time. The Board are flexible and recognise that members have work, study and family commitments and demands and are respectful of that.

The Treasurer will be responsible for the handover of financial records from the current Treasurer and the financial management. Examples of expenses are related to annual conference and Board member expenses.

The Secretary will support the Chair to organise monthly meetings, set the agenda, take minutes and circulate relevant documents after meetings. They will also monitor the organisation’s email.

The Social Media Officer will be responsible for Sibéal’s website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, for raising awareness about Sibéal’s work among academic institutions and the public.

To apply for a position on the Board please send an email to indicating which position you want to fill and a short (300 words) describing your potential contribution to the Board. Please submit your application by 9th November. Sibéal’s AGM will take place on Thursday 11th November at 6pm. A link to join the meeting will be sent to those who email to attend.
